William Davia

William Junior DaVia, 81, Cadiz, died Friday, April 16, 2010 at Harrison Community Hospital in the emergency room. Junior was born August 14, 1928 in Amsterdam, Ohio a son of the late Pete and Blanche Tolbert DaVia. Junior was a member of Springdale Friends Church in Kenwood was a coal miner having worked in the Nelms #1 Mine for the former Y&O Coal Coal Company; a member of UMWA, Hopedale V.F.W. Post #682, and Cadiz American Legion Post #34. Junior served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Junior was preceded in death in addition to his parents, by 3 brothers: Robert, Joe, and Jack DaVia. He is survived by his wife he married in 1952, Helen Sita DaVia; a son, Jimmy DaVia of Cadiz; a daughter, Barbara Fife of Cadiz; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a brother, Tom DaVia of Cadiz; and 2 sisters: Mickey Ray of Cadiz and Marlene Kendziorski of New Athens, Ohio. Calling hours will be held Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9, April 18, 2010 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz where funeral service will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Allan Swinderman. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Hopedale, Ohio. Military graveside honors provided by Hopedale American Legion Post #682. The memorial guestbook may be signed at www.clark-kirkland.com.
