William R. "Bill" Brown

November 13, 1946 — March 8, 2025

Cadiz, Ohio

William Ray “Buddy Bill” Brown, 78, of Cadiz, Ohio, was born November 13, 1946, in Terre Haute, Indiana and fell asleep in death, March 8, 2025, at the Steubenville, Ohio Valley Hospice after a short illness.

It was Bill’s hope of being brought back to life on a paradise earth and to greet his parents, William Jr. & Mae Maxine Brown and his many friends who passed before him.

Bill also knew that Jehovah God will comfort and help those he temporarily leaves behind: His cherished wife, Patricia “Trish” Brown, son Brandon William (Morgan) Brown, daughters Angela Dawn (Michael) Shepherd, Kassandra Rae (Eddie) Weaver, Jaeda Suzanne (Greg) Serkin, April (Ruben) Longoria, and Chantal Mathews, and grandson Todd (Tori) Dare, whom he raised like a son. Bill is also survived by his brother Timothy (Terra) Brown, sister Marlene (Peter) Hoeschele, grandchildren Jenson and Gabrielle Brown, Kelsey and Amanda Shepherd, Austin Weaver, Olivia Monhollen, and Lucas Janssen, great-granddaughter Nova and nieces and nephews.

Bill had a passion for forensic science and medicine. He was an honors graduate of Belmont Technical College with an associate’s degree in medical assistance. But Bill would tell anyone who would listen that his career was serving Jehovah, and he did that for over sixty years. He felt it a privilege to give upbuilding and encouraging Bible talks at the Kingdom Hall. He loved sharing the good news in his ministry door-to-door, writing letters and by telephone. He was also a master carpenter and used those skills to provide for his family and engaged in the construction of Assembly and Kingdom Halls of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He also participated in rebuilding and remodeling homes for his spiritual brothers in flood and hurricane relief in both Florida and Jamaica.

He was an avid speed reader and constantly had a book in his hand. He loved 50’s and 60’s classic rock and malt shop music. All could count on his loving concern as well as appropriate corny jokes. His jokes were so sappy that his children dubbed him the “Court Jester.”

A Memorial service for Bill will be held at the Cadiz Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses On Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 3:00 p.m.
