December 25, 1922 — January 23, 2008

Van W. Long, 85, of Tappan Lake, died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at the Harrison County Home. He was born December 25, 1922 at what is now Sally Buffalo Park in Cadiz, a son of the late Howell and Anna Mummey Long. Van was a member of the UMWA and worked at the Nelms # 1 Mine of Y. & O. Coal Company near Cadiz, lifetime member of the Tri-County Bassmasters; a member of the Hopedale American Legion; and served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Germany. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Iola M. Long in 2002. Surviving are a son Vance (Rosemary) Long of Tappan Lake; a daughter, Sharon (Adam) Yakubowski of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren, Roxann Randall, Amy Pflaumer, Adam Yakubowski and Annie Long; 4 great grandchildren. Friends may call Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m.. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery.
