Tony Pietrangelo, 95, of Cadiz, died Saturday, December 07, 2013 at his home following a brief illness. He was born November 28, 1918 in Rhodesdale, Ohio, a son of the late Samuel Vincenzo and Maria Masciovecchio Pietrangelo. Tony defined the term active senior in the Cadiz area. He was a former President of the Cadiz Lions Club, a member of the Harrison County Airport Authority, the Harrison County Rural Transit Board, the Cadiz Fraternal Order of Eagles and American Legion, Post 34. He was a retired employee of the Engineering Department of Consolidation Coal Company and a member of the Presbyterian Church of Cadiz. He restored the Cadiz Crystal Spring in Oak Park. In recent years, he was honored by the Cadiz Garden Club, the Mayor and Council of the Village of Cadiz and the Cadiz American Legion. He received the Outstanding Community Service Award from the Cadiz Business Association in 2011 and was named Citizen of the Year 2010 by the Cadiz Lions Club. In 2007 he was honored as a Silver Leader in the Disabled American Veterans Organization. In Smithfield, he received the Mary Sutherland Award. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Belle Morris Pietrangelo in 2002; three brothers, Albert, Ralph and Julius Pietrangelo and a sister, Mary Pietrangelo. Surviving are a son, James (Patricia) Halstead of Wintersville, OH and Ellenton, FL; two grandchildren, Jamie (Kirk) Littell of Gibsonia, PA and Michael Halstead of Philadelphia, PA; two great grandchildren, Brandon and Tanner Littell; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
