Thomas Frew, 88, of Cadiz, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Trinity Medical Center, West in Steubenville, Ohio. He was born September 10, 1919 in Parlett, Ohio, a son of the late Thomas and Edith Whittekin Frew. Mr. Frew was the retired Operator of the Mountaineer Shovel for Consolidation Coal Company. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Cadiz, where he served as the Clerk of Session, sang in the Choir and was active on nearly all the committees and boards. He was also a member of the Cadiz American Legion, Post 34 and Harrison Masonic Lodge 219, F.& A.M. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Wilson Frew, in 1997 and by three brothers, Robert, Jake and Albert Frew. Surviving are two sons, David and his wife, Susie Frew of Carrollton and Steve and his wife, Paula Wilson of Westerville; two daughters, Rachel Frew of Chapel Hill, NC and DeAne Wilson of Occidental, CA; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Stewart of Cadiz and Margaret Brienza of Caldwell. Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home in Cadiz, where funeral services will be held Friday, July 25, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. R.J. Leek officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery. A Masonic Service will be held Thursday, at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
