Ted A Zitko

Ted A. Zitko, 93, of Cadiz, Ohio, passed away on January 9, 2024, at the Harrison County Home. He was born on March 30, 1930, in Harrison County, Ohio, a son of the late Anthony and Anna (Saboley) Zitko.

He dedicated his career to the Department of Labor until his retirement in 1992. He was a lifelong member of the Cadiz Presbyterian Church and Masonic Lodge 219. Ted was a board member of the Harrison County Airport Authority and was an active member of the AOPA (Aircraft Owners Pilot Association). Along with being a board member, Ted was often seen piloting his treasured Cessna 172. Ted's passion for flying was not just a hobby, but a journey that brought him to his beloved wife, JoAnn (Porter) Zitko.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his wife of 56 years, JoAnn, his brothers Paul, and Raymond Zitko; sister, Irene; sister-in-law Betty; sister-in-law Mona, and brother-in-law James Schiffner.

He leaves behind a loving family: his daughter Diane (Ted) Lairson of Perrysville, 2 sons: Bill (Jan) Zitko of Hopedale and Phil (Patricia) Zitko of Shelby, along with eight grandchildren. Ted is also survived by his dear friend, Bernadine Leone.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 11 from 4 -7, with a Masonic service to be held at 6:45 PM at Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home in Cadiz, Ohio. The funeral service will be held on January 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home with John Visser officiating. Burial will follow at the Olive Branch Cemetery in Harrisville, Ohio. Following the burial, family and friends are invited to join a luncheon at the Presbyterian Church in Cadiz to celebrate Ted's life and legacy.
