Sylvia Visser

Sylvia Anne Visser, 77, died Monday, June 23, 2014 at Trinity Medical Center, West in Steubenville. She was born July 3, 1936 at Manchester, Ohio, the daughter of Rev. Fred and Mildred Norton Eastman. Her family in her childhood years moved where her father served Presbyterian churches in Kansas, Minnesota , and in several towns in Ohio, including the Congress Community Church in Wayne County. Following graduation from Northwestern High School and Wooster Business College, she was employed in several secretarial and bookkeeping positions before serving as an administrative assistant with the Wayne/Medina Community Action Program and later with the HARCATUS program in Harrison, Carroll and Tuscarawas counties. Sylvia Anne was an ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and also was a member of the DAR. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother John R. Eastman. Surviving relatives include her husband, Rev. Dr. John H. (Jack) Visser; children Elizabeth Maynard, Michael (Michele) Stanley, Marianne (Scott) Riegel, and John Eastman (Kristy)Visser; and grandchildren: Nathan, Noah, Nevin, Marina, Katrina, Peyton, and John B. (JB); and a brother, Fred (Marge) Eastman. Her body will be cremated. . A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
