Ruth L. Applegarth, 80, of New Athens, Ohio, died Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at Heartland Rehabilitation Center, Lansing, OH. She was born January 29, 1924 in Mt. Pleasant, Ohio, a daughter of the late James F. And Marie Snyder Kelley. She was a member of the New Athens United Methodist Church and the Flushing Chapter 369, Order of the Eastern Star. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse, having worked at the Hillview Nursing Home in Flushing, the Cadiz Convalescent Center, the Belmont Habilitation Center and the Cadiz Group Home. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harold P. ''Bud'' Applegarth in 1986; two grandsons, Robbie Wallace and Jimmy Dean Applegarth; two sisters, Mardell Barker and Inez Saffell; and an infant brother. Surviving are five sons, Robert (Barbara) Applegarth of Summersville, WV, Rodney (Cheryl) Applegarth of St. Clairsville, OH, Clayton (Barbara) Applegarth of Alexandria, IN, Wayne (Janet) Applegarth of Flushing, OH, and William (Lori) Applegarth of New Athens, OH; two daughters, Sharon (Robert) Wallace of St. Clairsville, OH and Ruth Ann (George) Sullivan of Bridgeport, OH; sixteen grandchildren: Brian (Sharon) Wallace, Leslie Applegarth (Phillip), P.I. (Becky) Applegarth, Brenna and Cody Applegarth, Melissa Harris, Bridget, Danny and Brad Applegarth, B.J., Christa, Becky, Jenna and Kelley Applegarth, Michael and Emily Sullivan; six step grandchildren: Jeff (Cindy) Merrill, Melissa (Mark) Hofner, Joey (Melita) Bland, Raylene (Roy) Devers, Mark (Emily) Sickafoose, and Sean (Julie) Sickafoose; eighteen great grandchildren; one brother, Fred Kelley of Martins Ferry, OH; one sister, Marjorie Jenkins of Plant City, FL; a special caregiver, Betty Jean Bland of New Athens; and a special friend, ''Puddycat''. Friends may call Thursday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, Ohio, where funeral services will be held Friday, February 20, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
