Robert J. Sedgmer, 90, of Cadiz, died Thursday, August 4, 2016. He was born June 24, 1926 in Cadiz Twp., Harrison County, Ohio, a son of the late Lewis Stanley and Adoline Liggett Sedgmer. Mr. Sedgmer was a member of Scott United Methodist Church in Cadiz. He was a retired Utilities Supervisor at ODOT District 11, having served over thirty years. Bob was a Navy Veteran of WW II and was the longest serving member of Cadiz Post 34 of the American Legion, receiving the Legionnaire of the Year Award in 2015. He was very community minded, as an active member of the Cadiz Cardinals Booster Club, Church Trustees, and the Coal Festival Committee. He also coached Little League and umpired for years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, William and Lewis Sedgmer and two sisters, Norma Prather and Linda Frank. Surviving are his wife, Bettie J. Hall Sedgmer; a daughter, Beckie (Alan) Lewis of Copley; two grandchildren, Trevor and Shelby Lewis; a brother, Paul (Delores) Sedgmer; and two sisters-in-law, Joanne Graham and Bernice Sedgmer, all of Cadiz. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, with Rev. Thomas Snodgrass officiating. Burial will be in Cadiz Union Cemetery.
