Robert Paul Giffin, Jr.

Robert Paul Giffin Jr., 85, of Cadiz, Ohio, passed away on April 18, 2025, at his home. He was born on October 19, 1939, in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late Robert Paul and Laura Beatrice Althar Giffin, Sr.

Paul was a member of the First Church of Christ in Cadiz, Ohio where he served as an Elder for over 30 years. He enjoyed singing in the church choir and teaching adults and children God’s word. He obtained a degree from Ohio State University in Dairy Science, and he worked in nearly every aspect of the cattle industry over the years—from raising and breeding, to milking and processing. He was a farmer at heart. He worked and managed Mizer’s farm in Cadiz for many years and was a meat manager for Riesbeck’s.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his wife, Emma Lou Giffin on February 13, 2025; by his brother Chester Giffin and sister Miriam Kinney.

Surviving are his three children Paul Edward Giffin and wife Lynn of Cadiz, Bradley Joe Giffin and wife Kristine “Sissy” of Elizabeth City, NC, Valerie Sue Baker and husband John of Cadiz, twelve grandchildren, Jacob (Alexis Corder), Jesse and Benjamin Giffin, Haley Remenyi (Dakota), Caleb (Carrie), Jillian and Jonas Giffin, Alexis Giffin, Hannah and Lucas Warrington (Kelsey Zikursh), Haley and Kylee Baker and five great grandchildren, Mason and Gracie Best, Aiden Cobb and Emorett Simmerman, August Giffin; siblings, Carol Carman of Barnesville and Glenn Giffin of Martins Ferry.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at the First Church of Christ, 139 North Main Street, Cadiz, Ohio. The funeral service will take place on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 4:00p.m. at the First Church of Christ with Bradley and Paul Giffin officiating. Paul will be laid to rest next to his wife Emma at Cadiz Union Cemetery.
