Richard Eugene Twarog, 62, of Flushing died Monday, November 22, 2010 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born December 17, 1947 in Martins Ferry, a son of Betty J. Berry Twarog of St. Clairsville and the late Stanley M. Twarog. A mechanic by trade, he loved building the motor for the race car. Rick loved dirt track racing and owned and co-owned several cars, including the number 9 car with his brother John and nephew Tye Twarog. His sons will carry on the tradition after 50 years of racing that their pap and dad started. He will be missed by all those who knew him. He is the husband of Susan Becker Twarog; father of Richard, Stanley, and Janette Twarog, all of Flushing; grandfather of Mikayla Twarog of Flushing and Joshua, Amber Harris and great grandfather of Lexi Burghy, all of Cadiz. Many other children called him pap or Uncle Rick: Timmy and Taylor Powell and Sean Tomer. His brothers and sisters who loved him: Roger and Sandy Twarog and Kathy Williams, all of Flushing, Rhonda and Oralee Browning of Logan, WV, John and Betty Twarog, Joan and Glen Toole, Becki and Bob Heisler Major, Randy and Amy Twarog, Bob and Diana Twarog; his nieces and nephews; and Aunt Carolyn Berry, all of Flushing. Friends may call Friday, 4-8 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gary Smith officiating.
