Richard Stanley Rotkoski, 68, of New Philadelphia, formerly of Cadiz, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 28, 2008. He went peacefully in his sleep at his home after a long battle with lung disease with his loving family surrounding him. He was born May 13, 1940 in Cadiz a son of the late Stanley and Ruby Coleman Rotkoski. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, William. He served our country in the US Army, enlisting Nov. 8, 1958 and serving until October 1964. He was a SP4 with the 245th Transportation Co., and served in the Berlin Crisis. He specialized in aircraft rotor and propeller repair. He attended school in Cadiz and received his GED while serving our country. His profession was in auto body work, which he did for thirty years, before retiring in October of 1996. He loved the outdoors, fishing and gardening. He especially loved woodworking and growing tomatoes. He also loved his beloved dog, Charlie, and enjoyed life and his family to the fullest. He celebrated his 45th wedding anniversary on May 8 with his loving wife Mildred Ann Cole Rotkoski. In addition, he is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann (Rob) Jones of St. James, MO, Ellen Marie Rotkoski of Dover, and Karen (Joe) Knight of New Philadelphia; a son Richard (Lori) Rotkoski of New Philadelphia; a brother John (Rose) Rotkoski of Cadiz; eight grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Friends may call Thursday, 7-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. with Pastor Don Snow officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted by the Cadiz American Legion. Donations may be made to Dover-Phila Credit Union to Mildred Rotkoski to help with medical expenses or to the American Lung Association, Tuscarawas County Hospice, or the Calvary Baptist Church.
