Richard L. Kirkland, 75, of Cadiz, died Saturday, September 2, 2000 at Wheeling Hosptial, Wheeling, WV. He was born May 25, 1925 in Shadyside, Ohio, a son of the late Clarence Robinson and Gladys Marie White Kirkland. He was a member and Elder of the Presbyterian Church of Cadiz, Ohio. He was the co owner of the Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, Ohio. He was a founding member and past president of the Board of Trustees of the Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz; a fifty year member of the Freeport Masonic Lodge; a former member of the Harrison County Home Health Board; the former secretary of the Harrison County Agricultural Society; a member and past president of the former Cadiz Exempted Village School Board; a committeeman of the Buckeye Districe, Ohio River Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America; a member of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. He was an avid supporter of the Cadiz Cardinal and Harrison Central Husky Wrestling Program. Surviving are his wife, Alma McCoy Kirkland; a son Jonathan L. and his wife, Nancy Kirkland of Cadiz; a daughter, Susan J. Kirkland of Columbus; 3 grandchildren, Andrew Wilson Kirkland, Carolyn Leigh Kirkland and Lauren Sullivan Kirkland; a brother, James H. Kirkland of Stamford, Texas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Kelly F. Kirkland and a sister N. Louise Ripley.
