Rev. Paul H. Hamilton, 81, of Piedmont, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2005 at Grant Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio. He was born January 10, 1924 in Freeport, Ohio, a son of the late Howard M. and Elsie Johnson Hamilton. Rev. Hamilton was the founding Pastor of the House of the Shepherd in New Athens, was the former owner and operator of Hamilton Equipment Co., and was a retired employee of Cravat Coal Co. He was a Navy Veteran of WW II; was a member of Freeport VFW 6815; served on the Board of Directors of Harrison Community Hospital, The Council on Aging and the MRDD Boards; a former EMT for the Moorefield Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a Chaplain for the Moorefield Volunteer Fire Dept., Harrison Community Hospital, the Freeport VFW, and the Harrison County Home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Wanda Cook Hamilton in 1994; three brothers, Albert, Francis Denver, and William Lloyd Hamilton; and a sister, Mae Chaney. Surviving are a son, Jack and his wife, Jeanette Hamilton of Piedmont; two grandsons, David Hamilton of Flushing and Paul and his wife, Rachel Hamilton of Piedmont; two great grandchildren, Justin and Mollie; two sisters, Mary Toole of Freeport and Irene Wise of Ruskin, FL; and a special niece, Becki Barcus of Burgettstown, PA. Friends may call Monday, 6-9 p.m. and Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 at the House of the Shepherd in New Athens, Ohio, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Lester Nabb officiating. Burial will follow at Longview Cemetery, New Athens. Arrangements are by Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz.
