Ray E. Sickle, 77, Cadiz, died Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, Ohio. Ray was born January 7, 1932 in Akron, Ohio a son of the late A.R. â�œPopâ₝ and Mable Gosnell Sickle. Ray was a member of Scott United Methodist Church; Harrison Lodge #219, F. Scottish Rite, Valley of Steubenville; honorary member of Cadiz V.F.D.; owned and operated Sickles Garage, Inc. since 1955; a and was a helicopter mechanic having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Ray was preceded in death in addition to his parents; by his wife, whom he married in 1953, Naomi â�œMardellâ₝ Sickle in 2002; a sister, Helen Sickle Bailey; a brother, Don Sickle, Sr.; and his stepmother Ada Sickle. Ray is survived by a son Larry R. Sickle of Cadiz; a daughter, Amy Ossman and her husband David of Cadiz; a grandson, Evan Ossman; a brother in law Jerry Ice of Hopedale; and a very special friend, Shirley Peterson of Cadiz, Ohio. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2-4 and 7-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Scott United Methodist Church, with Rev. Richard Hasley officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio. Full military honors provided by the Cadiz American Legion. Masonic service will be held Tuesday at 6:45 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Scott United Methodist Church, 817 East Market Street, Cadiz, Ohio 43907.
