Paul A. Starcher, 77, New Athens, Ohio went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 27, at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz. He was born October 4, 1925 in Adena, Ohio a son of the late Paul R. Starcher and Jane Kelley Starcher. Paul was a member of the House of the Shepherd, New Athens; a retired member of the New Athens VFD and Emergency Squad having served as fire chief; Flushing Lodge #298, F. Scottish Rite, Valley of Steubenville; and Aladdin Temple Shrine, Wheeling, West, Virginia; and a retired welder, dozer operator and ground oiler for the Gem of Egypt for Consolidation Coal Company, Cadiz. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Bernice Moore Starcher; a son Greg Starcher and his wife Cindy of New Athens; 2 daughters: Sharon Simmons and husband Richard of New Athens and Jackie Rutan and husband Dave of New Philadelphia; 3 grandchildren: Brian Rutan, Brock Rutan, and Paul R. Starcher, II. Calling hours are Sunday, March 2, 2-4 and 7-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where service will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul Hamilton officiating. Private interment at the convenience of the family.
