Otha F. Prather, 87, of Cadiz, formerly of Scio, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at his home. He was born January 3, 1924 in Lexington, Kentucky, a son of the late William Edgar and Willa K. Sidebottom Prather. Otha retired as Vice President of the Scio Banking Co. after thirty years. He was also a retired Car Salesman for McCombs Chevrolet and Cardinal Motors in Cadiz. He was a Navy Veteran of WW II, during which he participated in the North Africa Campaign and the D-Day and Salerno Invasions, and is the longest surviving member and former Finance Officer of the Cadiz American Legion. He was the Past President and an active member of the Cadiz FOE, Aerie 2162, the former Exalted Ruler of the Uhrichsville Elks, and Past Commander of the Scio American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Dutton and Norma Boehmer. Surviving are his wife, Eileen Albright Prather; two sons: Bradlee (Rochelle) Prather of Port Ludlow, Washington and Brent (Marybeth) Prather of Steubenville; two daughters: Sandy (Douglas) Williams of Michigan and Beth (Ted) Arneault of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; five step-daughters, Christine (Douglas) Reese of Scio, Debra Yakubowski and Jacqueline Yakubowski, both of Columbus, Lisa (Brad) Hunsucker of FL and Leslie Yakubowski of Canton; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a brother James (Janet) Prather, of FL; a sister, Miriam (Lou) Fusco of Wapinger Falls, NY and a brother-in-law, John Boehmer, of FL. Friends may call Friday, 2-4 and 6-8 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Chaplin George Romage officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Cadiz American Legion. Online condolences may be made at www.clark-kirkland.com.
