Nancy Fischer Van Curen passed away on May 16, 2024, at Trinity Medical Center surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on June 6, 1959, in Wheeling, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Raymond Clyde and Mary Joan Lutz Fischer.
In her working career, Nancy worked as a business analyst and computer programmer for Allied Machine and Engineering, Ansell and most recently, Williams Lea Tag in her hometown of Wheeling, West Virginia. Nancy was an animal lover. She loved horses especially, riding and caring for them was a deep passion of hers. She was a member of the Harrison County Ohio Horseman’s Council, as well as the Somewhere Sewing organization. Nancy also loved crafting—be it painting or quilting. Most of all, she loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by a nephew, Jonathan Fischer.
She is survived by her husband, Alan Van Curen; sons, Scott (Elke) Van Curen and John (Angela) Van Curen; daughters, Brooklynn McAfee and Ashlynn Van Curen; grandchildren, Hunter Van Curen, Emma, Aiden, Addison, Liam, Jenna and Ellianna Van Curen, Kamden Van Curen, Jayce McAfee and Kole Dickson; brothers, Alan Ray (Cathy) Fischer and Gary Lee (Nancy) Fischer; niece, Shannon Prickett; great-niece, Kendall Rownd; great-nephew, Kolby Rownd; and many cousins and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 4:00p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home in Cadiz. The funeral service will follow at 7:30 p.m. with Mark Smith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Harrison County Cancer Crusader, c/o Julie McPeak, 226 Charleston Street, Cadiz, Ohio 43907.
