Mildred Swiger, 89, of Cadiz, died Friday, December 17, 2004 at Trinity Medical Center, West in Steubenville. She was born May 6, 1915 in Strange Creek, WV, a daughter of the late Anson Joel and Amanda Perkins Walker. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Cadiz, where she was active in prayer meetings and the Women's Christian Fellowship, and the Harrison County AARP. She is a former employee of the Scio Pottery Co. in Scio. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin Harris; a daughter, June Harris; 4 brothers, Melvin, Lewis, Anson, and Orville Walker and 3 sisters, Hilda Cain, Naomi, Harmon and Marieta Gibson. Surviving are 2 sons, Fred Byers and his wife, Diane, and Robert Byers and his wife, Jean, both of Wilmington, DE; a daughter, Jean Hoobler and her husband, Reuben of Jewett; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. Friends may call Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Church of Christ in Cadiz, with Terry Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Hopedale Cemetery. In lieu of flower, memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of Chirst, 139 N. Main St., Cadiz, OH 43907. The memorial guest book may be signed at www.clark-kirkland.com
