Mary Margaret McFarlan Smith, 79, of Cadiz, died Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Wheeling Hospital. She was born June 27, 1929 in Cadiz, a daughter of the late Alonzo Oliver and Margaret Lemmon McFarlan. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Cadiz and served as an Elder and a Deacon there. She was a volunteer at Harrison Community Hospital and a member of the same Bridge club in Cadiz for sixty years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dwain Dickerson Smith in 1995; a brother, Robert McFarlan and a sister, Nancy Roush. Surviving are four sons, Michael (Kim) Smith of Cadiz, Terry (Sue) Smith of Jewett, Robert (Susan) Smith of Westlake and David (Lorrie) Smith of Sebring, FL; two daughters, Rebecca (Christopher) Wood of Cadiz, and Amy (Greg) Tullis of Jewett; seventeen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and her beloved cat, DeeDee. Friends may call Tuesday 4-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Cadiz, 154 W. Market St., Cadiz, Ohio 43907, with Rev. R.J. Leek officiating. Burial will follow at Longview Cemetery, New Athens.
