Mary Cole

Mary Virginia (Work) Cole, 93, of Cadiz, died Thursday, October 06, 2011 at her home. She was born March 26, 1918 in Millers Station, Ohioa daughter of the late John and Lily Grimsley Work. She was a graduate of Jewett High School in 1935. She attended Muskingum College and graduated from Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing with an R.N. degree in 1941. Mrs. Cole was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Cadiz, the Cadiz Women's Club and was a former member of the New Rumley Methodist Church and the General Custer Association. On October 18, 1941 she married Edward T. Cole, who preceded her in death, and they were the parents of three surviving children, Marcia (Steve) Helwagen of Circleville, OH, Jerry (Donna) Cole of Uhrichsville and David (Barbara) Cole of New Philadelphia; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Elsie Selway of Cadiz and several nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Alyce Rothel and Carol Raber, and many dear supportive friends throughout the community. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mignon (and husband, Clyde) Craft and Denny Lucille Work. Friends may call Sunday from 1-5 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. R.J. Leek officiating.
