Mary O. Beckley, 97, of Tappan Lake, died Saturday, October 09, 2010 at the Harrison County Home, Cadiz. She was born September 11, 1913 in Smithdale, Ohio near the family farm on Tappan Lake, a daughter of the late Earl and Laura Fulton Buxton. Mrs. Beckley graduated from Uhrichsville High School and later Kent State University with her teaching degree. She taught school at Sampson�s one room school house near Tappan Lake. She was a lifetime member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, where she played the piano and organ, was a Sunday school teacher and was active in the women�s association. She was also involved with the Harrison County Extension Service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Homer M. Beckley in 1998; a brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Helen Buxton; a niece Ruth Ann Brooks; a sister-in law, Vivian Kugler and a brother-in-law, John Beckley. Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law Morris and Helen Buxton of Tappan Lake; many nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces; and 2 sisters-in-law, Helen Chesla and Ann Beckley both of Cadiz. Friends may call at the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, U.S. 250, Tappan Lake on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Robert King and Rev. Henry Mooney will officiate. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Valley Church Cemetery.
