Martha Lou Spurrier Thompson, 77, of Jewett, OH, formerly of Cadiz and Pleasant City, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, after a long battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 28, 1926 in Pleasant City, Ohio, a daughter of the late John O. and Mildred Hoy Spurrier. She was a member of the E. Warren St. Church of Christ in Cadiz, and was a retired Telephone Operator with GTE in Cadiz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Richards, and by 2 infant sisters and an infant brother. Surviving are her husband, Lowell Thompson of Carrollton, formerly of Jewett; one sister, Dorothea and her husband, James Patterson of Columbus (with whom Martha resided for the past nine months); one brother, Reuben C. and his wife, Ivey Spurrier of Easton, PA; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews; many relatives and very good friends. Friends may call Friday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, Ohio, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with Evangelist David Myers and Evangelist Charles Newell officiating.
