Marion William ''Bud'' Smith, 86, of New Athens, died Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Trinity Medical Center, West, Steubenville, Ohio. He was born June 2, 1921 near Germano, Ohio, a son of the late J.H. and Jessie Hoobler Smith. He was a Presbyterian, and an Army Air Corps Veteran of WW II. He was a retiree of Consolidation Coal Company having worked on the Bradford ''C'' Shovel. He was a former employee of Republic Steel in Canton, but his favorite job was working on his Grand dad Hoobler's farm when he was young. Bud was a member of the American Legion, Post 34 in Cadiz; the Unionport Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite, Valley of Steubenville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Funk on Dec. 24, 2000.. Surviving are his wife, Helen Hackley Smith; a daughter, Shirley Smith of New Athens; a son, Gary (Cheryl) Smith of Uniontown, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Kristie Smith of Columbus and Brian and Jane Marie Smith of Uniontown. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dean Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow at Longview Cemetery, New Athens with Military Honors by the Cadiz American Legion. A Masonic Service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Monday in the Funeral Home.
