Marian Edgar

November 24, 1928 — November 15, 2009

Marian L. Edgar, 80, of Cadiz, died Sunday, November 16, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton. She was born November 24, 1928 in Cadiz, a daughter of the late John and Myrtle McCleary DeCorte. Mrs. Edgar was the retired Clerk-Treasurer of the Village of Cadiz and was a retired employee of Kaufman's in St. Clairsville. A Methodist by faith, she was the former Vice President of the Harrison County Republican Women's Club and was a member of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare. Marian was devoted to her husband, Robert, of 56 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She had a passion for baking pies for holiday gatherings, she loved dancing, especially the polka and jitterbug. She loved country music, collecting cook books, and politics. She was a Marine wife for 22 years. Dad knew she would "keep the home fire burning" and take excellent care of their three daughters. She was brave, stoic, independent, loving, and knew she was loved. She cherished her six grandchildren and she was delighted with her only great granddaughter, Allisynn. We will miss her always. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three daughters, Donna (Don) Miller of Canton, Pamela (Dan) Edwards of New Philadelphia and Roberta (Dan) Merryman of Richfield; six grandchildren: Jason (Gretchen) Miller and Darren Miller (Erin Morgart), Danielle (Ryan) Hamsher, Daylene (John) Herman, Rob Merryman, and Jake Merryman of the USMC; and a great granddaughter, Allisynn Hamsher. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at Arlington National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, c/o Linda Kelley, 87995 Buxton Road, Scio, Ohio 43988. Online condolences may be made at www.clark-kirkland.com.
