Marcella Ballard

Marcella Brooks Ballard, 95, of Cadiz, died Monday, May 10, 2004 at the Carriage Inn of Cadiz. She was born December 28, 1908 in Cadiz a daughter of the late Eleanor Jones. She was a member in good and regular standing of St. James A.M.E. Church in Cadiz. She was the former owner of the Brooks Barber Shop and retired as the Motor Vehicle Registrar in Cadiz. She was a former member of the Puskarich Public Library Board and the former Cadiz Public Library Board, and was a member of the Harrison County Republican Central and Executive Committee. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles H. Brooks, Sr. in 1960, and by her second husband, Robert W. Ballard in 1993; two sons, Gene Everett and Hartzell Gordon Brooks; and three brothers, Lincoln, Richard and Hartzell Jones. Surviving are a son, Charles H. ''Hennie'' Brooks of Cadiz; 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 15, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at St. James A.M.E. Church, 300 East Market St., Cadiz, Ohio 43907 with Rev. D'Wain O. Wales officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to her church. The Memorial Guest Book may be signed at www.clark-kirkland.com.
