Mae Elizabeth Arris, 92, of Cadiz, died Saturday, November 1, 2003 at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz. She was born June 8, 1911 in Steubenville, Ohio, a daughter of the late John Edward and Emily Ethel Clark Parfitt. She was a member of Scott United Methodist Church. She was employed by Harrison County for 14 years, until her retirement in 1976 as Executive Secretary of the Children's Services Board. She was also Executive Secretary of the Board of Mental Retardation, and served as a Probation Officer and Domestic Relations Officer. She started the Adult Training Class for the Mentally Retarded in Harrison County, and was a former member of the Cadiz Women's Civic Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer George Arris, whom she married September 16, 1931; 2 sons, George Edward Arris and Loren Lee Arris; and a sister, Laura Scott Blackburn. Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Judith Arris of Canton; 2 granddaughters, Aimee Hetrick and her husband, Gerald of Minerva, and Michelle Oren and her husband, Gary of Okeechobee, FL; 3 great grandchildren, Aaron Hetrick, Sean Hetrick and Stephanie Oren; a great great granddaughter, Karis Ledford; and a dear friend, Robert Glover and his wife, Dorothy of Jewett. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, Ohio, where Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 6, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Hooker officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Scott United Methodist Church or Minerva United Methodist Church.
