Lula Christian Palmer Toney, 96, of Hopedale, died Monday, August 18, 2014 at her home. She was born September 17, 1917 in Stillwater, Ohio a daughter of the late Grant and Maude Christian. She was a member of Bethel Methodist Church near Hopedale and was a former cook at the former Cadiz Pike Inn Hopedale and worked at Bethel Church. She was preceded in death in addition to her parents; by her first husband, Clifford Palmer; her second husband, John Toney; a son, Cledith L. Palmer, 2 great grandchildren; a brother, Merle Christian and 2 sisters: Martha Carter and Irma Smith. She is survived by a daughter, Lavinia (Benjamin) Rice of Pittsburgh; adopted son, Willy Noble of Georgia; 8 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 19 great great grandchildren; a sister, Juanita Byers of Smithfield; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5-8 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz where funeral service will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Rodney Bowers officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. The memorial guestbook may be signed at www.clark-kirkland.com.
