Lula Christian Palmer Toney, 96, of Hopedale, died Monday, August 18, 2014 at her home. She was born September 17, 1917 in Stillwater, Ohio a daughter of the late Grant and Maude Christian. She was a member of Bethel Methodist Church near Hopedale and was a former cook at the former Cadiz Pike Inn Hopedale and worked at Bethel Church. She was preceded in death in addition to her parents; by her first husband, Clifford Palmer; her second husband, John Toney; a son, Cledith L. Palmer, 2 great grandchildren; a brother, Merle Christian and 2 sisters: Martha Carter and Irma Smith. She is survived by a daughter, Lavinia (Benjamin) Rice of Pittsburgh; adopted son, Willy Noble of Georgia; 8 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 19 great great grandchildren; a sister, Juanita Byers of Smithfield; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5-8 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz where funeral service will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Rodney Bowers officiating.
