Luke Clark Mallernee, 21, Cadiz, died Monday, January 26, 2004, as the result of a automobile accident. He was born March 10, 1982 in Dennison, Ohio a son of Dennis Mallernee and wife Susan of Cadiz and Nancy Martin Cunningham and husband Ed of Cadiz. He was a Specialist E-4 with the Ohio Army National Guard, 1485th Transportation Co., Steubenville Branch. He was currently stationed in Iraq, and was home on leave. As a child, Luke was a Cub Scout, played Biddy Football, was active with Ohio Model United Nations, Power of the Pen, T-Ball, 4-H, and the Cadiz High School Band. He graduated from Trinity Christian Academy in Steubenville, and was a former member of the Living Water Assembly of God Youth Group, and attended the Uhrichsville Christian Temple. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Eugene and Jean Mallernee. His fiancé, Kimberly Bishop died in the same auto accident. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a sister Angie Mallernee of Cadiz; maternal grandparents, Jack and Ethel Martin of Cadiz; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Calling hours are Friday, January 30, 2-4 and 7-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Scott United Methodist Church, 817 East Market Street, Cadiz, with Rev. Scott Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Church Cemetery, Cadiz, Ohio, with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Steubenville Unit of the 1485th Transportation Co., The memorial guestbook may be signed at www.clark-kirkland.com.
