Leslie Wayne Blankenship, 61, of Cadiz, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Valley Hospice Care Center, North in Steubenville. He was born April 30, 1949 in Dennison, Ohio, a son of the late Paul Camden and Nora Kathleen Lucas Blankenship. Wayne lived his young years in Jewett, Ohio and surrounding area. He went west and settled in Idaho, where his son was born. When he returned to Ohio, he found work and lived in Cleveland until health issues brought him back to Cadiz a few years ago. When Wayne was young, people called him "Mechanical Man" for his ability to repair anything. He was a good guy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Leslie Camden Blankenship and a sister, Mary Ann Sowers. Surviving are three sisters, Candace (Don) Sickle and Barbara (Clarence) Shannon, all of Cadiz and Linna Poole of Wintersville; and a brother, Jon Samuel (Loretta) Carrothers, of Indiana. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, with Rev. Tom Bullard officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Jewett.
