Larry "Buck" Johnson, 70, New Athens, died Monday, July 4, 2011 at his home. He was born June 10, 1941 in New Athens, Ohio a son of Mary Alice Secrest Romshak of New Athens and the late Kenny Johnson. He was a retired coal miner having worked at Y&O Coal Company at the Nelms #2 Mine and the Enlow Fork Mine, a member of the UMWA, a Navy Veteran having served aboard the USS Charles P. Cecil and Methodist by faith. He is survived in addition to his mother; by his wife, Betty "Cookie" Schiffner Johnson; a son Larry Dean Johnson and his wife Carolyn of New Athens; a daughter, Kim Walker and her husband Eric of St. Clairsville; 5 Grandchildren: Anthony, Amanda, and Breanna Johnson and Drake and Kennady Walker; a brother, Rudy Romshak of Cadiz; 4 sisters: Linda Stine of Cadiz, Janie Litten of Flushing, Mary Ann Price of Bridgeport, and Deborah Ferda of New Athens, Ohio. Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 7 from Noon until time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz with Rev. Rodney Bowers officiating.
