Kenneth M. ''Whitey'' Lawthers, 78, of Jewett, Ohio, formerly of Follansbee, WV, died Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Acuity Specialty Hospital in Steubenville, Ohio. He was born January 27, 1930 in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Paul and Marguerite Nash Lawthers. He was a retired Steelworker at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company's Mingo Plant. He was a member of the Hanover United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Steubenville American Legion and the Scio Dining Fork Ruritan Club. He served in the US Army in the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia, and by a brother, Harold (Red). Surviving are his wife Helen Shultz Lawthers; a step-daughter, Marilyn Miser of Jewett and a sister, Shirley Hruschak of Follansbee, WV. Graveside services with military honors will be held Monday, June 2, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Fairview Cemetery, Jewett with Rev. Dixie Hendricks officiating.
