Joseph "Joe" Sartor

Cadiz, Ohio

Joseph "Joe" Sartor, 82, of Cadiz, Ohio passed away on February 8, 2025, at home after a brief battle with cancer surrounded by his step-daughters and grandsons. He was born on September 4, 1942, in Union, South Carolina, a son of the late Ulysses and Sally Booker Sartor. 

During his working career, Joseph spent over 25 years as a manual machinist for Eastern Machinery until the companies closing. He then went on to become the Sanitation Master for and retired from Sweet Streets Desserts. Joe spent many Sundays’ rooting for his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys! He loved playing the lottery with his lucky numbers and scratch off tickets. His family knew him as a handyman, he loved yardwork, and most of all he was a family man. He devoted his life post-retirement to taking care of his grandsons, a job he absolutely adored. 

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by, his siblings, John “Skeeter” Sartor, LV Sartor, Willie Sartor, Florence Sartor, Virginia Ruth Sartor-Hunter, and Viola Sartor-Stevens, all of South Carolina. 

He is survived by his stepdaughters, Erin Lopez and Laurel Galvin; grandsons, Bryan Pienta, Manuel Gonzalez III, Servacio Lopez and Leland Lopez; sister, Elbethea Sartor-Harper of Spartanburg, South Carolina; and an abundance of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. The family is being assisted by Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home, Cadiz.
