Joseph (Joe) Burger, 82, Piedmont, Ohio died Sunday, September 23, at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz. He was born December 18, 1918, in Dillonvale, Ohio a son of the late Anton Burger and Anna Kuta Burger Bodlak. He was a retired Trackman for B & O Railroad in Holloway and Dover, Ohio. He was also a Army veteran of World War II, former member of the National Youth Foundation; Civilian Conservation Corps; Pearl Habor Attack Survivor; Flushing American Legion; and a member of the Freeport VFW. He was preceded in death by his wife, Murle I. Perdue Burger in 1999; a brother, Jerry Burger; 2 half brothers: Winslow and Terry Burger; 3 half sisters: Mildred Rezabek, Rose Steffl, and Norma Mason. He is survived by 2 Sons: Joseph C. and his wife Jean of Piedmont and James A. and his wife Pat of Tippecanoe; a daughter Toni Bates and her husband John of Freeport; a grandaughter, Amy Jo Burger; and a grandson, Damien W. Bates. Calling hours are Tuesday, 7-9 at Clark-Kirkalnd Funeral Home, Cadiz, where services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Paul Hamilton officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
