Johnny Hayward Sterling, Jr., 61 of Hopedale, died Friday August 7, 2015 at Trinity Medical Center, West in Steubenville. He was born in Steubenville, Ohio on October 1, 1953 to the late John H. and Shirley Dunlap Sterling, Sr. He was a Marine Veteran having served during the VietNam Era, was a cook onboard the Delta Queen and he loved the Marine Corps and Ohio State Football. He was preceded in death in addition to his parents, by a sister Rachel Skinner. He is survived by 6 sons: Choice (Chase) Sterling of Seattle, Chad (Angel Farrelly) Sterling and Johnny (Jonel) Sterling III, all of Pinellas Park, Florida, Donald (Patricia) Rush of Zanesville, Matthew Davenport and Michael Davenport both of Cadiz; a daughter, Nancy Landerman of Gastonia, NC; 3 sisters: Sue (John) Tweedy of Cadiz, Bonnie Johnson of Scio and Joy Tippie of Pinellas Park, Florida; and 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Calling hours are Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Harrison Hills United Pentecostal Church, 87800 Cadiz-Jewett Road, Jewett where funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Javier Larios officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Hopedale, Ohio. Military honors provided by the Hopedale American Legion.
