John "Ed" Edward Muze, 80, Cadiz died Saturday, June 26, 2010 at his home. Ed was born March 9, 1930 in Piney Fork, Ohio a son of the late William Joseph and Florence Mercer Muze. Ed was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he received 5 Bronze Stars. After his military service, he worked in construction and at the former Y&O #1 Portal Mine. When the mine closed, he started farming and raising cattle with his sister Bessie and her husband Wallace Worrell. He worked the farm for over 40 years. Ed loved gardening , his cows, and his 19 year old dog Smoky. When Ed wasn't working on the farm he enjoyed setting at the counter, drinking coffee and talking to his friends at Bessie's restaurant. Ed was preceded in death in addition to his parents, by 2 brothers; Robert, Sr. and Don Muze. Ed is survived by his sister and best friend, Bessie Worrell of Cadiz and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Ed never married. He was devoted to his sister Bessie. They took care of each other their entire lives. Ed will be especially missed by Bessie and her children Lana Rensi, Ed Fannin, Lorrie Smith and Ron Worrell and their immediate families, nephew Bob Muze, and Smoky. Calling hours will be held Monday, June 28 from 5-8 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz where funeral service will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Henry Mooney and Rev. Hester Hudson officiating. Burial will take place at Pleasant Valley Church Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Military honors by Cadiz American Legion. The memorial guestbook may be signed at www.clark-kirkland.com.
