John Kurucz

John L. Kurucz, 73 of Ft. Myers, Florida formerly of New Athens, died Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Lee Memorial Hospital in Ft. Myers. He was born June 30, 1941 in Crabapple, Ohio a son of the late John and Valeria Hrica Kurucz. He was a member of the New Athens United Methodist Church. For thirty years he was the treasurer of the New Athens Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Flushing Lodge #298, F.&A.M. and a retired Mine Foreman from Consolidation Coal Company's Oak Park and Humphrey # 7 Mines. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Candace Bintz; and a brother-in-law, Harold Dunlap. Surviving are his wife of fifty years, Mary DeWalt Kurucz; 3 sons, David (Cathy) Kurucz of Canton, OH, Steve Kurucz of Newark, OH, and Gary Kurucz of Muncie, IN; two granddaughters, Rachel Kurucz of Clevland and Lindsey Kurucz of Muncie; a great grandson, Noah, who is due in December; two sisters, Yvonne Dunlap of New Athens and Illene (Stanley) Toto of Painesville, Ohio. Friends may call Sunday, 4-7 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz where funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jon Little officiating. A Masonic Service will be held Sunday at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Longview Cemetery, New Athens, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Athens United Methodist Church, New Athens Volunteer Fire Department or the Flushing Masonic Lodge.
