John Rogers

September 30, 1912 — December 1, 2002

John E. Rogers, 90, of Cadiz, Ohio, died Sunday, December 1, 2002 at his home. He was born September 30, 1912 at Tappan Lake, Ohio, a son of the late George W. and Gay Hayes Rogers. He owned and operated the Rogers Western Auto in Cadiz for 58 years. He was an active member of Scott United Methodist Church where he served on many committees and boards. He was a past director of the former First National Bank of Cadiz; and was a past member of the former Cadiz Exempted Village School Board. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Frances Laughridge Rogers in 1998; a daughter, Nancy Rogers Geanangel in 1999; 5 sisters, Martha Green, Mary Alice West, Betty Trouten, Vera May Schubert, and Anna Grace Minteer; and 2 brothers, Thomas and Edward Rogers. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Allen (Marcia) Carter of Cadiz; 5 grandchildren, John Geanangel of Columbia, SC, Jeff Geanangel of Houston, TX; Melinda Beebe of Brunswick, OH; Kevin G. Carter of New Philadelphia, OH; and David A. Carter of Pataskala, OH; 3 great grandchildren, Hannah, Austin and Haley Carter. Friends may call Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Scott United Methodist Church, 817 E. Market St., Cadiz, OH. with Rev. Robert Hooker officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Church Cemetery on Tappan Lake. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, c/o Vickie Yoder, 122 E. Main St., Scio, Ohio 43988.
