Jane Mazeroski

December 2, 1928 — December 28, 2009

Jane Delores Vich Mazeroski, age 81, of New Philadelphia, O., and formerly a long-time resident of Cadiz, O., passed away on December 28, 2009, at New Dawn Center in Dover, O., following an extended residence there. Born on December 2, 1928, at Cadiz, Jane was the daughter of the late George and Julia Licina Vich Miller. Jane graduated from the Cadiz High School class of 46 and went on to cosmetology school in Columbus where she became an accomplished hair beautician. On June 25, 1950 in Steubenville, O., Jane married her husband and love of her life, Donald Mazeroski at St. Georges Serbian Orthodox Church in Steubenville. Together they had two children; Donna (Bill) Ferris of New Philadelphia and David of Dover. Grandchildren are Matthew and Mitchell Ferris of Columbus; Donnie and Ricky Maz of Dover, Sara (Scott) Kuecher of Abilene TX, their mother Terry Kodrin; and one great-granddaughter Hailey Jane Kuecher. In addition to her immediate family, Jane is survived by brothers John (Christine) Vich of Cadiz, Paul (Naomi) Vess of Apex NC; sisters Mary (Louis) Basich of Adena, and Delores (Nelson) Cramblett of New Philadelphia along with a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sophie (Joe) Dubinsky of Ravenna. While residents of Cadiz, Jane and her family were members of the Methodist Church where she initially taught Sunday school with her good friend, Ruth Cramblett and was a member of the Mary Martha Circle. Jane was also a member of the Cadiz Womens Civic Club and the Ladies American Legion Auxiliary. In her younger days, Jane was a popular hair stylist at the Elizabeth Gray beauty salon in Cadiz and later on, ran the Wards catalog center for several years there. After that, she became an assistant to Mabel Leach at the Harrison County Auditors office where she worked until her retirement in 1993. Jane enjoyed life to the fullest and always encouraged those around her to look at life in a positive way. She was such a busy bee you always could count on her to get things done! Jane was at her best when doing for others which seemed to be always. She enjoyed making others happy and got the greatest level of satisfaction when those she helped or tended to were content. Jane was a great and loyal friend who kept in touch with those whose friendships she maintained through out her life. She was very proud of her family and was the best hostess whenever relatives would drop in to visit. Always having a glad youre here smile and a warm greeting, the nieces and nephews always knew that their Aunt Angie (or just Auntie) would soon offer them something good to eat! Whether it was a home-cooked meal, her famous red cake, or her favorite pie and ice cream; she always seemed to have plenty for everyone (and if there wasnt, shed offer you hers). As the middle child, Janes three sisters and two brothers loved her as the family rock and veritable peacemaker who was sensitive and who cared deeply and equally for each of them. Jane loved doing things for her family. To her, there was nothing more important than when the family was together. As popular as she was with everyone else, Jane became a terrific Grandma. Her love and pride spilled over whenever she was around her grandkids because they sure loved being around her! She would race them, play ball with them, or even wrestle with the kids all the while laughing uncontrollably and always ending with hugs and kisses. Of course, she knew how to let them win without them knowing it, too! Whenever she did make time for herself, Jane loved to sew, cook, and tend to her flower gardens around the house and be the best wife a man could have to lucky husband, Don. While Jane will be sorely missed by family and friends alike, all are invited to celebrate her life with a memorial service at 11am on Thursday, December 31 at the Scott Methodist Church in Cadiz with the Rev. Richard Hasley and the Rev. Wm. Sauers officiating. Final internment will be at the Holly Memorial Gardens in Colrain, O. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Scott United Methodist Church in Cadiz or to South Broadway United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia. Online condolences may be made at www.clark-kirkland.com Arrangements made through the Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home in Cadiz (740) 942-2650.
