James “Jim” Medley, 81, born on June 2, 1942 to Laurence and Jean (Frew) Medley in Wheeling, WV went Home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ after a brief illness on October 4, 2023 at Trinity Medical Center West.
Jim graduated from Jewett High School class of 1960. He worked for Consolidation Coal Company for 38 years where he was also the financial secretary of UMWA Local 7690. Post retirement Jim enjoyed working for Blackie & Son Excavating and Paving.
He attended Word of Truth Church in Jewett. Jim enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was an avid car lover who owned several classic cars over the course of his life and loved attending car shows. He was a member of the Christian Rodders Association.
Survived by his loving wife Lois (Ash) Medley who were high school sweethearts and married for 63 years. Jim was also a devoted father to three and loving grandfather and great grandfather.
In addition to his wife Lois he is survived by three children, Jim Jr. (Julie) Medley of Columbus, Rick Medley of Jewett and Jami (Brian) Heavilin of Hopedale, Ohio. His grandchildren: Jimmy, Joshua and Jacob Medley; Zachary, Nathanael, Mitchell, Tobias and Aaron Medley; Brian Jr. (Dynasty) Heavilin, Ashley (Kyle) Prevot, James Heavilin (Alexis); Leigha Herrmann (Josh), Hailey (Patrick) McCauley and Libby Massengale (Derek); great grandchildren: Kol Heavilin and one due in November, Skilar Heavilin.
The family will receive friends on Sunday October 8, 2023 from 2-5 at Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home, Cadiz where funeral service will be held on Monday at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor John Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens in Colerain, Ohio.
