James Cope

James Richard "Dick" Cope, 72, of Cadiz, died Friday, May 20, 2011 at Trinity Medical Center, West in Steubenville. He was born September 4, 1938 in Nottingham Twp., Harrison County, Ohio, a son of the late H. Hartzell and Martha E. "Betty" Bargar Cope. Dick was a farmer and a retired Equipment Operator for R. & F. Coal Company in Cadiz. He was a memberof Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, the Harrison County Humane Society, Ohio Valley Flywheels and the Harrison County Farm Bureau. He was a Nottingham Twp. Trustee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Thurman and Thelma Wehrs and a brother-in-law, Ross Heavilin. Surviving are his wife Marilyn Wehrs Cope; a sister, Betty Jo Shaw and her husband, Donald; two nieces, Heidi Shaw and Heather Keller and her husband Jody; two grand nephews, Shane Ripley and Seth Keller; a grand niece, Abby Keller; and a sister-in-law, Martha Heavilin, all of Cadiz and several cousins. Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Matilda Heavilin officiating.
