Jack Martin, 80, of Hopedale, formerly of Cadiz, died Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Gables Care Center, Hopedale. He was born March 7, 1930 in Harrison County, Ohio, a son of the late Fred C. and Deane Riggs Martin. Jack was the owner and operator of Jack Martin Trucking and was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Hopedale American Legion, the Cadiz FOE, Aerie 2162 and attended the First Church of Christ in Cadiz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Sgt. Luke Clark Mallernee. Surviving are his wife Ethel Davis Martin; a daughter Nancy and her husband Edgar Cunningham of Cadiz; a granddaughter, Angie Thomas of Cadiz; great grandchildren Lucas and Landen Thomas; and three sisters, Virginia Thompson, Mountain Home, AR, Kathryn Mitchell of Ormond Beach, FL and Ruth Ann Copeland of Scio. Friends may call Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. Paul Giffin and Rev. Richard Hasley will officiate. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Hopedale American Legion.
