Helen Monzula Thompson, 100, passed away on October 24, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones at the Harrison County Home. She was born on March 6th, 1923 in Triadelphia, West Virginia to the late John and Helena Lukacena Monzula.
Helen was raised along with her siblings on Monzula Farm in Cadiz before she started working as an inspector at Deluxe Check Printers in Cleveland, Ohio. After retirement she ventured back to her hometown of Cadiz where she volunteered for the Carriage Inn and Harrison Community Hospital. She found joy in spending time with her family, attending her great grandchildren’s sporting events, and visiting her best pal, her brother George on the family farm.
Helen lived a life full of love, kindness and generosity. Always offering a smile and an energetic, loving spirit. She shared stories of her own youth and imparted valuable life lessons that will be carried forward through generations. Her enthusiasm toward living a blissful life with an emphasis on family value will always live on within her loved ones and those who knew her.
Helen was proceeded in death in addition to her parents by her husband, Harvey Thompson; son, Joseph Thompson; brothers John and Paul Monzula; sisters, Mary Sawko, Elizabeth Sawchek, and Pauline Culverhouse.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Mark (Kathy) Thompson, Josann (Todd) Richards, and Helen Ann (Tim) Gardner; brother, George (Marilyn) Monzula; 6 great-grandchildren Kelsey (Patrick) Linn, Mark (Danielle) Thompson, Madison Richards, Paige Richards, Nick Gardner, Caitlyn Gardner, 4 great-great grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.
Helen will be remembered as a loving person whose legacy of love, warmth, and kindness will continue to inspire all of those fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 25th at 3:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery with Mark Smith officiating.
The family is being assisted by Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home.
