Harry Deaton

Harry E. Deaton, 66, of New Athens, Ohio, died Sunday morning after a lengthy illness. He was born August 22, 1935 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a son of the late Harry E. Deaton and the late Jessie Phillips Deaton Ferrie. He was a member of the New Athens United Methodist Church, was an Athens Twp. Trustee for 19 years; was a member of the New Athens Volunteer Fire Department, the Flushing Lodge 298, F. & A.M., and was inducted into the Harrison County Sports Hall of Fame last year. He was a former electrician at Consolidation Coal Company and a retired custodian at Harrison Hills City School District. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Johnson Deaton; 2 sons, Bud and his wife, Lisa, of Pataskala, OH and Rusty and his wife, Penny, of Zanesville; 5 grandchildren, Robbie, Kayla, Kari, Ryan and Christopher Deaton; 1 brother, Bill Deaton of Wheeling; 4 sisters, Katherine Leluika of Martins Ferry, Doris Frohnapfel, Colerain, Hazel Adams, Martins Ferry, and Grace Carter, Cadiz. Friends may call Tuesday from 1-3 and 6-8 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home. A Masonic Service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at the New Athens United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Mehl officiating. Burial will follow at Longview Cemetery, New Athens, Ohio. Memorial Contributions may be made to the New Athens United Methodist Church or Volunteer Fire Department or Emergency Squad, New Athens, Ohio 43981.
