Hannah L. Carpenter, 80, of East Cadiz, died Tuesday at her home. She was born June 30, 1931 in Amsterdam, Ohio, a daughter of the late George and Hannah Carrick Sponhaltz. Mrs. Carpenter was a member of the Cadiz Church of God. She volunteered for many years at the I.M.M.F. House of Coal and was a former office manager at the family business, Sponhaltz Trucking and Transfer Co. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Stephens in 1956 and her second husband, James Carpenter in 2011, and by a brother and his wife, Fred and Ruth Ann Sponhaltz. Surviving are a daughter, Belinda (Kenny) Coffman of Cadiz; a son, Randall (Regina) Stephens of Mannington, WV; four grandchildren: Rana Taylor, Raime Santee, James and Mark Adams; and nine great grandchildren. Friends may call Friday, 6-8 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where services will be held Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Samuel Betts officiating.
