Grace Kernya

Grace Irene Kernya, 82, Cadiz, formerly of Cherry Valley, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Trinity West, Steubenville, Ohio. She was born July 9, 1924 in Adena, Ohio a daughter of the late Orville and Grace Waldren McMannis. She was a retired employee of Scio Pottery Company, an avid Bingo player, enjoyed her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death in addition to her parents, by her husband John G. Kernya in 1993; a son, John W. L. Kernya; a granddaughter, Tonya Lynn Kernya; infant grandson, Michael Maffit; 3 brothers: Lemoine, Eugene, and Woodrow McMannis; and 3 sisters: Freida Elerick, Mildred McAfee, and Beatrice McEndree. She is survived by 2 sons: David Kernya of Elyria and Michael (Kelly Carmean) Kernya of Cadiz; a daughter, Sandra Maffit and her husband Robert of Mentor-on-the-Lake; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a twin sister, Ilene Dunlap of Cadiz, Ohio. Calling hours will be Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz where funeral service will be held Friday, March 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. J. Hugh Rose officiating.
