George Lewis

June 20, 1914 — February 18, 2010

George E. Lewis, 95, Vancouver, Washington, formerly of Cadiz, New Athens and McConnelsville, Ohio died Thursday, February 18, 2010. He was born June 20, 1914 in Wellsburg, West Virginia a son of the late Harden and Nellie Riddle Lewis. Mr. Lewis was a truck driver for area coal companies, including the former Hanna Coal Company in Cadiz. He was very active in his churches in Cadiz and McConnelsville, having served on various boards, as a Sunday School Teacher and as a Bible Study Leader. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Arvella Mae Dreyer Lewis in 2002. Surviving are two daughters: Shirley Hartman and Constance Posey; 2 sons: George LeRoy Lewis and John Paul Lewis; eleven grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Friends may call Saturday, February 27, 11:00 until time of service at 1:00 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. Rev. Richard Hasley will officiate. Burial will follow at Longview Cemetery, New Athens, Ohio. The memorial guestbook may be signed at www.clark-kirkland.com.
