George A. Jenkins, born August 15, 1908 in Cadiz, Ohio, and died May 2, 2004 in Dublin, Ohio. He worked in the coal fields in the Cadiz area for over 50 years in a variety of capacities. Employed by Harmon Creek Coal Co., Apex Coal Co., Hanna Coal Co., Consolidated Coal Co., and the State of Ohio. Member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Cadiz High School Boosters Club, the Masonic Order, Lions Club and many other organizations. Former member of Cadiz Village Council. Survived by his wife, M. Irene (Liggett) Jenkins; daughter, Cenia Cox and son-in-law, Bob Cox; son, George Jenkins and daughter-in-law, Gina Jenkins; grandchildren, Franklin D. Dowdle, Sheila Turrell, Sylvia (Steve) Johnson and Dawn (Johannes) Assen; great grandchildren, Chad Williams, Chelsee Williams and Darcy Johnson. Friends may call at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz on Wednesday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.. Service will be held at Scott United Methodist Church, 817 East Market Street, Cadiz, Thursday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Hooker officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery.
