Eugene Vincent Heavilin, 82, was born at Bowerston on February 10, 1920, the eldest son of Robert Park and Winifred Barger Heavilin. A graduate of Scio High School, he enjoyed farming all his life. He was employed by Central Ohio Breeding Association and retired from R.& F. Coal Company. During WW II, he served in the Old Hickory Division (30th) in Patton's Third Army. A member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, he was also associated with the Harrison County Saddle Club and the Ohio and National Percheron Horse Associations and the Farm Bureau. He also was a Boy Scout Leader and a 4-H Advisor. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Brooke Holbrook; son-in-law, Dr. Timothy Holbrook; an infant grandson; and a brother, Vance Heavilin. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Matilda Titus Heavilin; 2 sons, Blair (Carol) Heavilin of Freeport and Brent (Melissa) Heavilin, Cadiz; 8 grandchildren: Nichole (John) Ceculski of Columbus; Claire, Stuart and Wayne Heavilin of Freeport; Bruce, Brian, Alex and Clint Heavilin of Cadiz; a great grandson, Bryce Parker Ceculski of Columbus; a sister, Mrs. Max (Phyllis) Wallace of Cadiz; and 2 brothers, Robert of Canton and Dee of Cambridge; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Thursday from 1-3 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, Ohio, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Charles Mehl officiating.
