Elsie Snyder Hauber Bish, 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the home of her daughter, Kay Jones of Jewett on August 30, 2008. The daughter of Walter Snyder and Essie Miser Snyder, she was born in Unionvale, Ohio on September 23, 1918. Her mother died when she was sixteen years old. Elsie was the oldest of six children, and helped to raise her siblings. Elsie graduated from Hopedale High School in 1937 and in later years, went back to school and graduated from Steubenville Business College. She began married life at Hopedale, Ohio, and in 1954 moved to the family farm near Jewett. Elsie was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Hauber; her second husband, Paul Bish in 1990; son Larry Hauber in 2002; brother Ross Snyder; sisters, Helen Thompson and Maxine Hatfield; and one great grandson, Matthew McAfee. Elsie was the loving mother of Gay Bossetti of Port Clinton, Kay (Toots) Jones and Connie Hauber of Jewett; Lewis (Sue) Hauber of Jewett and Jim (Becky) Hauber of Cambridge; a brother, Ray Snyder of Sandusky; a sister Mary Stover of FL; a special niece Carole Miller; eleven grandchildren; and twenty one great grandchildren. The loving mother of six children, Elsie was most kind and inspired others with unconditional love. Her generous and humble nature endured her to all whose lives she touched. She gave unselfishly of herself to her family and friends. Friends may call Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Cadiz. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery near Hopedale.
